Nervous, Paul and I went out today to George V Park to see if people would sign the petition.
We are asking Midlothian council to give residents 12 months to decide what is best to do with the building behind us. There was alot of support for reusing it as a large indoor play area in the pool. (20 people signed).
Many people simply did not know it was being demolished. They knew the services were moving to the new hub, but assumed it was being sold.
This building has hosted many fondly remembered parties. With the extra space created by moving the pool and gym, it could become a significant party venue for 1-9 yr olds. Currently it can host one party per hour. With the extra space it could host 3-4 parties at a time. The weekend party capacity would shoulder the main costs of the centre and enable it to be a sustainable cooperative family club midweek.
