Dear Councillor
I am very disappointed to hear that the council are planning to vote against community ownership of the leisure centre, and to demolish it.
At the moment bonnyrigg has nothing for kids under 5. I have 3young kids and the closure of the soft play was a big disappointment to us. On days like today it's the only way little ones can get out the house and get some exercise.
Bonnyrigg is building houses everywhere yet getting rid of services for young children.
When the leisure centre was closed I was told the new leisure centre would provide a like for like service, yet there is no soft play and no baby pool for the younger swimmers.
When we used to be able to use midlothian services for swimming and soft play, we now have to go to edinburgh or East Lothian.
In the school holidays when the older kids are able to take part in holiday courses there is nothing at all for a kid under 5, only one of my 3kids is able to do anything during the Easter holidays in bonnyrigg.
If there is a community group willing I work with the council to provide much needed services for children in bonnyrigg, I can't see why you would choose not to do this.
Yours sincerely
Tracey
