I am writing to you as Chairman of Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council to convey their unanimous opinion on the matter of the reuse of Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre.
On 14th of November 2013, an extraordinary meeting of the council was held to ascertain the results of its ‘Reuse Consultation’ for Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre.
It was concluded that the council, with representatives from interested community groups, had enough evidence to establish that
“AFTER THE REVIEW OF THE CONSULTATION INFORMATION, BONNYRIGG AND LASSWADE COMMUNITY COUNCIL CONCLUDES THAT PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, GROUPS AND INTERESTS IN BONNYRIGG WANT THE BUILDING TO BE RETAINED.”
As you know Community Councils are the legally constituted bodies charged with the duty to accurately represent the views of residents to local authorities. We believe the consultation we funded combined with the many discussions with residents has evidenced this conclusion.
Please take this into consideration with regard to tomorrows vote on its future.
Chairman of Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council.
