Good evening,
Absolutely dismayed to hear that Midlothian council is looking to demolish Bonnyrigg Leisure centre.
I am hoping that our elected representatives can help convince the council that the centre (which was built by public funds) should not be demolished and that various other options are considered such as allowing the community to take ownership. There are many successful examples of this having worked such as Ladywood leisure centre in Penicuik.
It does appear strange that we are trying to promote sports, leisure and communities whilst our councils are giving approval to demolish centres which are a vital part of our communities.
Giving the increase in population in Bonnyrigg and the continued new build, should we not be creating more venues for our communities rather than closing and demolishing them.
Hoping I can count on you as an elected representative in our community and look forward to hearing you views on this situation.
Greig
